They will have fewer searches, but when you do the maths and compare 3rd place on Google for a niche term with 30th place for a broad term, it might still be worth it.

Those broad terms provide too many people that aren’t looking for exactly what you’re offering or just want a free ride.

Another way to increase your authority and start getting better backlinks is to reach out to authorities in your industry and offer them some content. This can be a blog post, video, or something else.
When you start working with these authorities, it’ll help your site on a number of levels.
Firstly, the link juice they pass on will mean a lot to search engines like Google, but you’ll also start to see direct clicks and traffic from the syndicated content, bypassing the need for search engines altogether.

The more you can get people talking about you and sharing your content, the more people it’ll reach.
