Google, Matt Cutt’s just started his vacation, and just after that Google Spam team just launched an update named”Google “Pigeon” Updates Local Search Algorithm”.


Google has released this new algorithm to provide a more useful, relevant and accurate local search results that are tied more closely to traditional web search ranking signals.

This algo has more impact on Google maps search results & as well as on Web search results too.

They also announced that, they have considered many signals for this algorithm for deciding the rankings of local map search and web search results. Read below:

including the hundreds of ranking signals we use in web search along with search features such as Knowledge Graph, spelling correction, synonyms and more.

The new algorithm is currently rolling out for US English results.  they haven’t updated on this when they are going to roll-out this alog for other countries and languages.
